Having security on your building site is essential for a range of reasons, including preventing unauthorised access, which can lead to criminal activity such as theft, arson and vandalism.
Here at Tag Systems we offer a wide variety of security solutions you can implement on your site.
First of all, there are plenty of low cost, easy solutions to implement on your building site to increase protection:
- Secure the outskirts of the site with a minimum of 2m fencing to prevent members of the public from accessing the site. Be sure to check the bottom of the fencing to ensure there aren’t any large gaps where the ground is uneven as this could allow people to crawl underneath. Consider electric fences if you want to add another layer of protection.
- Introduce a signing in and signing out procedure. This makes it clear exactly who is on site and allows you to make sure everyone has left the site at the end of the day. This is also the most effective way of ensuring everybody is accounted for if there’s an emergency on site.
- Keep tools and equipment locked at night. It can be tempting to leave all your tools at the end of the day so that you can pick up where you left off straight away when you get back in the morning. However, leaving tools lying around makes you a much easier target for criminals and is the leading cause of theft on building sites. Best practice is to mark them up and keep them locked in a secure container when not in use.
- Display signs on the periphery of your site. If you have CCTV installed on your site, having signs warning people of this can be an excellent deterrent. “Keep Out” and “No Trespassing” signs can also be effective. It can also be a good idea to have signs with the contact number of the site manager or management company to encourage members of the public to contact them if they do see any suspicious activity.
Listed above are some simple and effective ways of keeping your site safe, however you might want to consider some more robust systems that offer much better security and control over your site. Here are some of the security solutions we offer here at Tag Systems:
Having a CCTV system in place can be effective in 2 ways: firstly it acts as a great deterrent, most criminals aren’t willing to go ahead with a crime if they’ve got a high chance of getting caught. Secondly, if anybody does manage to break into your site, your surveillance system will catch them, meaning there’s a much higher chance of being able to prosecute someone for trespassing.
Our TagCam system is a wireless system designed specifically with construction sites in mind. Being wireless, these CCTV cameras can be installed cheaply and with minimal interference to the infrastructure of the buildings. Another advantage is that the cameras can be moved to wherever you need them most, whenever you want.
We offer a range of cameras within the TagCam system that can be chosen to best suit your needs. Whether you need both day and night vision, a range of up to 1km, or 360° views, we’ve got you covered. View our range of solutions here.
Intruder Detection Systems
Intruder detection systems are one of the best ways of detecting when someone enters your premises and are a fraction of the cost of hiring security guards to monitor the site. When your site is left unattended, these are the best way to get proof of exactly where trespassers entered, where they went and where they left. As well as giving you more chance of catching the intruder, it also allows you to identify weak spots in the protection of your site.
TagWatch is an integrated detection and camera system that is completely wireless, meaning it can be completely tailored to your needs. Our intruder system is one of the most sophisticated, yet affordable on the market too. With infrared LEDs which illuminate dark areas to allow the cameras to function, TagWatch can keep your site safe in both daylight and night time. The best thing is that intruder systems from Tag are monitored 24/7, 365 days a year, meaning you have peace of mind that your site is never left unwatched. Find out more about TagWatch here.
